Les Gourmets des Ternes

Bd de Courcelles (just off Place de Ternes) 8th
01 42 27 43 04
Great classic bistro. Crowded. Waiter with attitude (he wouldn’t let me order an entrecote “bien cuite”, told me to change my order to another cut of meat, and then brought it rare anyway. But despite that, I would return in a minute, Erik’s lamb (which I ate) was delish, as were the pommes frites and crème caramel. But mainly the atmosphere was jovial, and just right, with people still rolling in at 10:15pm when we left.

La Rose de France

24 Place Dauphine, Ile Saint- Louis
The perfect place for lunch when sightseeing around Ile de la Cite. My rumsteak with Roquefort sauce and frites was great. Perhaps the best thick cut pommes frites I’ve ever had. The place Dauphine is a wonderful quiet square, perfect for a relaxing lunch in the sun.

May 14 2006 update - we went back, this time for dinner, and it was just as good the second time. Very nice simple place for dinner after seeing a concert at Sainte Chapelle.
